Sugar prices fall on heavy stocks, weak demand

Sugar prices declined by Rs 30 per quintal at the wholesale market in the national capital today following huge stock position on persistent supplies by mills amidst low demand from bulk consumers.

Marketmen said heavy stocks position in the market due to persistent supplies from mills against sluggish demand from retailers and bulk consumers, mainly put pressure on the sweetener's prices.

Sugar ready M-30 and S-30 prices closed Rs 25 each lower at Rs 2,740-2,950 and Rs 2,720-2,930 per quintal.

Mill delivery M-30 and S-30 prices also fell by Rs 20 each to Rs 2,660-2,810 and Rs 2,650-2,760 per quintal.
 

In millgate section, sugar Asmoli and Dhampur lost Rs 30 each to Rs 2,830 and Rs 2,700, while Modinagar fell Rs 25 at Rs 2,710 per quintal.

Prices of Kinnoni and Khatuli moved down by Rs 20 each at Rs 2,810 and Rs 2,800, while Budhana, Thanabhavan and Simbholi by Rs 15 each to Rs 2,710, Rs 2,700 and Rs 2,830 per quintal.

Sugar retail markets - Rs 30-34 per kg.

Sugar ready: M-30 Rs 2,740-2,950 S-30 Rs 2,720-2,930.

Mill delivery: M-30 Rs 2,660-2,810 S-30 Rs 2,650-2,760.

Sugar mill gate (including duty): Mawana Rs 2,750, Kinnoni Rs 2,810, Asmoli Rs 2,830, Dorala Rs 2,720, Budhana Rs 2,710, Thanabhavan Rs 2,700, Dhanora Rs 2,720, Simbholi Rs 2,830, Modi Nagar Rs 2,710, Khatuli Rs 2,800, Dhampur 2,700, Ramala Rs 2,680, Bulandshahr Rs 2,700, Anupshahr Rs 2,660, Baghpat Rs 2,690, Morna Rs 2,700, Sakoti Rs 2,660, Chandpur Rs 2,680, Nazibabad Rs 2,670.
