Teenager held for raping five-year-old

The 16-year-old boy allegedly raped the girl when she was returning home from school on August 18. Later, her mother registered a complaint with the revenue officer of Valna, who lodged a case following which the accused was detained yesterday.

A medical examination of the girl has confirmed rape, police said.

The accused, who studies in a government college, was today produced before a juvenile court in Almora district, which sent him to 14 days remand in a juvenile home.
