Three arrested for IPL betting in West Bengal

Three people have been arrested here for running a betting racket on Indian Premier League (IPL) matches, a said today.

Acting on a tip off, the police raided a house at Gayeshpur Bedibhawan area in Kalyani yesterday night and nabbed two brothers Jayanta Biswas and Debabrata Biswas

for their involvement in betting, he said.

One tablet, three and Rs 2700 in cash were seized from them.

"The duo confessed they were involved in IPL betting. They said Hira alias Pappu Das, a resident of Dumdum Cantonment, was running the racket. We arrested him too," Sub -Divisional (SDPO), Kalyani, Subrata Kangshabanik, said.

All three of them were produced before a court, which remanded them in police custody for three days.

"We are investigating the case to find out if more people were involved in the racket," Kangshabanik added.
