Sambar antlers seized in Thane, one arrested

The Crime Branch of Thane police has arrested a man and seized Sambar antlers from his possession, an official said today.

Senior inspector Jairaj Naravare said that police had got a tip-off that a man was arriving at Upvan area here to sell smuggled sambar antlers.

Police laid a trap and arrested Santosh Bamne (31), resident of Andheri in Mumbai, and seized two sets of sambar antlers, worth Rs 4 lakh in the illicit market, he said.

A case under the Wildlife Protection Act was registered against him, he said.
