TNAU's stored grain insect trap technology becomes popular

As part of its goal to take its innovations to Farmers across the Country, Tamil Nadu Agricultural University has recently introduced its stored grain insect trap technology to farmers in Uttar Pradesh.

TNAU has developed eight traps and efforts are being made by the Department of Agricultural Entomology, to popularize them so that the it reached the farmers.

Recently the stored grain insect trap technology was introduced in Katiya Village, in Sitapur district of Uttar Pradesh by Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), a TNAU release said here today.

Scientist Dr Baya S Srivastava of KVK, Sitapur, who got trained under Centre for Advanced Faculty Training program held in November lastyear in Recent Advances in Stored Product Insect Pest Management, organised by TNAU, was instrumental in introducing the trap technology to the farmers in Katiya district, it said.
 

The response for the trap was quite good and 50 traps have been ordered for further large scale demonstration and distribution to the farmers, the release said.
