In an alleged case of road-rage, two persons including a 22-year-old army jawan were killed while another man was injured when their motorcycle was run over by a truck on Meerut-Karnal Highway here, police said today.
The truck driver has fled and hunt is on to nab the accused.
The incident occurred last night when the three persons were returning home from the Cantonment area here on a motorcycle, they said.
On Sardhana Road at Kankarkhera area, a truck hit their bike from behind disbalancing the riders. However they managed to avoid an accident but enraged over the driver they started chasing the truck, police said.
Upon reaching the Meerut-Karnal Highway, irated youths placed the motorbike ahead of the truck in order to stop it.
However, the driver initially slowed down his vehicle but suddenly picked up speed and rammed the bike killing the Jawan Deepak and Mohit (35) on the spot, police said.
Shobit (30) was injured in the incident and has been sent to the hospital while the truck driver managed to flee leaving the vehicle behind, police said.
The truck has been seized and hunt is on to nab the accused, they said.
