Woman attacked with acid-like chemical in Raj

A divorced woman sustained minor injuries, when two unidentified bike-borne assailants threw acid-like chemical on her in Chopasni Housing Board area here, police said.

The incident took place when Jyoti Soni (30), was returning home last night when acid-like chemical was threw on her by two unidentified bike-borne assailants leading to minor burn injures on her neck and chest, they said.

She has suspected Vikas Mewara, against whom, she had registered a case of rape.

Police has registered a case and has been searching for the suspect Mewara.

"We have visited the spot of the incident and have started searching for Mewara based on the suspicion of the woman", said ACP Durg Singh.
 

"A few yards away from her home, two motorcycle borne persons, threw acid like chemical on her and fled", he said.

One of them was wearing a helmet and the pillion rider was having his face wrapped with a cloth.

"It was not exactly an acid but a mild chemical", he said.

According to Singh, the victim is divorced and has been living with her two children.

She said was having an affair with the suspect Mewara and has registered a case of rape in Sardarpura police station against him under section 376 of IPC.

Singh said that the police investigation in this matter has already completed and charge sheet has been submitted in the court.
