Woman commits suicide, husband booked

A woman allegedly committed suicide by consuming some poisonous substance at Jakhni village here, after which a case of dowry death has been registered against her husband and five other family members.

Sukanya had allegedly consumed some poisonous substance on September 29. She was admitted to PGIMS, Rohtak where she died on September 30, police said.

A case was registered against her husband Dharmender and five others.

Purshottam, father of the victim, in a complaint, alleged that pressure was being exerted on his daughter by Dharmender and his family members for bringing more dowry.

Fed up with the demand, Sukanya ended her life, he alleged. Sukanya got married in January this year.
