After Wynk Music, Airtel has come out with the Wynk Movies app for Android devices.

The app streams movies from ErosNow (Rs 249 a month for unlimited streaming) and Hooq (Rs 199 a month for unlimited streaming and downloads) and serials from SonyLiv (Rs 5 a day). I found Sai Paranjape's Chashme Buddoor and watched it from start to end, using my home Wi-Fi connection. There were no lags and the dialogues were in sync, despite simultaneously downloading a movie from Hooq.

There's plenty to stream for those who don't want to subscribe to the packs, but one has to subscribe if one wants to download stuff for offline viewing. One can also stream to a bigger screen.

I don't watch TV serials too much, but if you're into that sort of thing, there's plenty on offer. A caveat: The app crashes sometimes, especially if you overload it with instructions. Plus, in the short time I used it, all the downloaded movies were saved on the phone's internal memory. Overall, this app is a great companion for commutes and your home, if the network is strong enough.
