Singer Angaraag 'Papon' Mahanta of 'Kyon' and 'Sun le re' fame and sarod exponents Amaan Ali and Ayaan Ali Khan enthralled Delhiites at a cultural function to kickstart year-long celebrations to mark the 150th birth anniversary of doyen of Assamese literature Lakshminath Bezbaroa.
Papon, who experimented fusion with Assamese folk music in Coke Studio, belted out his popular Bollywood and other numbers, leaving a capacity audience at the Siri Fort auditorium here spellbound last night.
Earlier, Amaan and Ayaan took the gathering to a spiritual journey as they mesmerised them with their performance. They were watched by their parents -- Ustad Amjad Ali Khan and Subhalaxmi Baruah Khan, who is an Assamese.

In his brief address, the legendary Khan said he is indebted to his in-laws as he had this unique opportunity of being a son-in-law of Assam because of marrying their daughter.

The audience stood up and joined in singing the state anthem at the close of the programme.
