As a part of its growth strategy, KSB Pumps Ltd, the Pune-based manufacturer of pumps and valves, is planning to invest Rs 250 crores for expansion over the next five years. As per the plan, KSB will set up a new plant for manufacturing high-end engineered pumps for super critical thermal power plants. The company will manufacture these products as a part of ‘Make in India’ initiative under a technology transfer and license agreement with KSB AG, Germany.

“The company has plans to expand its operations in next few years by setting up new plant preferably near its existing location and is in the process of finalising specific location and land for this purpose,” said KSB Pumps in a BSE filing on July 24, 2015.

KSB Pumps is planning to undertake construction of the plant in a phased manner over next 5 years to achieve the required capacity. The company aims to commence commercial production in a phased manner from 2017 onwards. “The capital expenditure to be incurred over the phased expansion is estimated to be around Rs 250 crores partly from internal generation and balance from borrowings,” said KSB Pumps.

Meanwhile, KSB Pumps Ltd on July 27, 2015 launched a solar-powered submersible pumpset, KSBSol. These pumpsets, which are designed using the German technology, are manufactured at KSB’s Sinnar plant, near Nashik (Maharashtra).
