Day 1 of the 2nd Test match between India and Bangladesh has been called off due to rain as showers continue at the Green Park Stadium in Kanpur. bangladesh end the day's play at 107/3 after Rohit Sharma elected to bowl first at the start.
Going with the same eleven, it was Akash Deep who got India the breakthrough early on in the innings when he dismissed Zakir on a duck in the 9th over. The 27-year-old then went on to take his second on the day when he sent Shadman Islam back to the dressing room in the 13th over with brilliant delivery that struck the batter's pads.
Bangladesh after getting reduced to 29 for 2, came back strong with the help from Najmul Hasan Shanto 28 not-out and Mominul Haque 18 not-out added 45 runs for the third wicket, to finish at 74 for 2 at lunch.
However, the skipper Shanto was only able to add three runs to his totral post lunch before getting dismissed by Ashwin on 31.
The match has been stopped only 9 overs into the second sessions after bad light followed by heavy rain. Bangladesh are currently 107 for 3 with Mominul Haque (40) and Mushfiqur Rahim (6) at the crease.
