India vs New Zealand HIGHLIGHTS 2nd ODI: Mitchell-Young shine as New Zealand level series 1-1
New Zealand, with the win against India in the second ODI in Rajkot, have ended their 8-match winless streak against India in down-under conditions

Will Young and Daryl Mitchell (L-R)
New Zealand, with the help of clinical bowling performance, followed by a century from Daryl Mitchell and a half-century from Will Young, have beaten India by seven wickets in the second ODI at Niranjan Shah Cricket Stadium in Rajkot to level the three-match series 1-1 after two matches.
India, batting first, scored 284 for 7 with the help of KL Rahul’s unbeaten 112, but the visitors, despite losing early wickets, kept their calm and chased down the total with seven wickets and 15 balls to spare. The two teams will now meet in Indore on Sunday for the series decider.
Earlier, New Zealand won the toss and invited India to bat first. The hosts got off to a slow start, adding just 10 runs in the first five overs, before Gill and Rohit picked up the pace and scored a quickfire 60 off the next 44 balls to take their opening stand to 70 before Rohit Sharma (24 runs off 38 balls) lost his wicket to Kristian Clarke while trying to clear mid-off region.
However, skipper Shubman Gill continued to score runs from the other end and reached his 17th ODI half-century. He scored 56 runs off 53 balls before losing his wicket to Kyle Jamieson. Vice-captain Shreyas Iyer (8 runs off 17 balls) failed to retain his form from the first ODI and was dismissed cheaply by Kristian Clarke, who then removed Virat Kohli (23 runs off 29 balls) to put India under pressure. This was Virat’s first below-fifty score in an ODI match after six games.
Ravindra Jadeja (27 runs off 44 balls) then stitched a crucial 73-run stand for the fifth wicket with Rahul to hand India some stability before losing his wicket to Michael Bracewell. However, Rahul continued to hold firm from one end and brought up his 21st ODI half-century in 52 balls.
Nitish Kumar Reddy (20 runs off 21 balls), who came in as a replacement for Sundar, then stitched another 57-run stand for the sixth wicket with Rahul before losing his wicket to Zak Foulkes. Harshit Rana (2 runs off 4 balls) also couldn’t do much and gave up his wicket to debutant Jayden Lennox.
However, KL Rahul (112 not out off 92 balls) took matters into his own hands and scored his eighth ODI ton to help India finish at 284 for 7 after 50 overs.
In reply, New Zealand lost their first wicket cheaply when Harshit Rana dismissed last match’s half-centurion Devon Conway (16 runs off 21 balls). Henry Nicholls (10 runs off 24 balls) hung around for a while before being clean bowled by Prasidh Krishna as the visitors lost both openers inside the 50-run mark.
Daryl Mitchell and Will Young then stitched a half-century stand for the third wicket to stabilise New Zealand’s chase. Mitchell brought up his second ODI half-century in a row, while Will Young completed his 11th ODI fifty as they stretched their partnership past 100 to hand New Zealand control of the chase.
Kuldeep Yadav finally ended the partnership on 162 after dismissing Will Young (87 runs off 98 balls). However, Daryl Mitchell continued his purple patch in 50-over cricket and scored his eighth ODI century to take New Zealand close to the target.
In the end, Daryl Mitchell (131 not out off 117 balls) and Glenn Phillips (32 not out off 25 balls) added an unbeaten 78-run stand for the fourth wicket to take New Zealand past the target with seven wickets and 15 balls to spare.
