
New Delhi, May 11 (ANI): In a fight against COVID-19 second wave, Canadian government has started off with dollar 10 million donations to Indian Red Cross, informed High Commissioner for Canada to India, Nadir Patel on May 11 in an interview with ANI. "The first consignment arrived a few days ago and we'll have another flight arriving with additional supplies in the next couple of days. Canadian Govt started off with dollar 10 million donations to Indian Red Cross. We sent 350 ventilators, 25,000 vials of Remdesivir and 1,450 oxygen concentrators via UNICEF. Outpouring of support and solidarity with people of India in Canada has been special. Provinces of Ontario and Saskatchewan have collectively brought forward 3,100 ventilators," Patel told to ANI. "A number of private companies that are active in India have stepped up and have donated to Red Cross and other organizations. Several million dollars have come in. We will see more support coming in," he added.

NBFC Shriram Finance plans to raise USD 1 billion (about Rs 8,300 crore) from overseas in the next 6 months to fund its business growth.
"We are planning to raise USD 300 million in the next few weeks, may be by October and rest USD 500-700 million during the remaining part of the current financial year," Shriram Finance Managing Director and CEO Y S Chakravarti told PTI.
The fund raise would also include loans from development financial institutions like Asian Development Bank, Kfw, and United States Development Finance Corporation (DFC). The timing would depend on market conditions, he added.

Kota city police has arrested one of the accused, who was on the run for two years, in the alleged Delhi Police recruitment exam scam, a police official said.
The accused was also wanted by the Kota police in another case related to forged documents.
Akhilesh Kumar Singh (32), a resident of the Jamui district in Bihar and currently living in Delhi's Rohini, was arrested from Haryana's Jind district on Saturday in connection with a case of forged documents, Kota City SP Amrita Duhan said. Akhilesh is one of the accused in the Delhi Police recruitment exam scam, she added.
Akhilesh took on rent the premises of Kota's Messrs Om Kothari Foundation for conducting an online examination in 2020.  The accused, along with a local person identified as Himanshu Rathore, allegedly forged the signature of an official of the institute to prepare the required documents of proprietorship, and got it allotted as an online examination centre for the Delhi Police recruitment exam, police said.
