Goalpara (Assam), Sep 14 (ANI): India's first detention centre is being built in Assam's Goalpara district. The construction work is in full swing at first detention centre in Goalpara district's West Matia area of Assam. There will be 15 four-storey buildings in the detention centre for those who do not qualify as Indian citizens. While speaking to ANI, Junior Engineer (JE) Rabin Das said, "The work on this project started in December 2018, our target is to complete it by December 2019. It is being done at an expense of around Rs 46 crore." "15 four-storey buildings is being built-13 for men and two for women. It will have separate toilets, hospital, kitchen, dining area, recreational area and school," he added. "There will be buildings for officers and grade 4 staff. It will have two security barracks.
