Explained: Why is Joshimath, a famous town in Uttarakhand, sinking?
As many as 570 houses have developed cracks due to land subsidence in the ancient town of Joshimath.
Located at a height of 6,000 feet in Uttarakhand's Chamoli district, the town is a gateway to Hemkund Sahib and Badrinath.
