Hindus, Muslims come together for Mace procession in Kashmir

Anantnag (J-K), July 22 (ANI): Amidst the holy chants of 'Vedic hymns' the scores of pilgrims performing Amarnath Yatra reached at Mattan Martand temple in Anantnag district of Jammu - Kashmir for the prayers before the commencement of mace procession or Chari Mubarak Yatra. As per traditions, throughout the journey, the mace travels with saints and devotees for 46 km through Pahalgam, Chandanwari, Sheshnag and Panchtarani to the final destination of Amarnath holy cave shrine. Setting a perfect example of communal harmony, both Hindu - Muslim devotees, in all vigour and spirit, jointly performed special rituals and sang devotional songs at the temple that officially marked the beginning of Chhari Mubarak Yatra or procession, spreading the message of love and brotherhood. The temple reverberated with the sound of conch shells as huge number of pilgrims and saints performed religious ceremonies.
