Mahesh Sharma says statements on Quran and Bible 'misquoted', high regards for all religions

New Delhi, Sep 14 (ANI): Minister of state for Culture and Tourism Ministry Mahesh Sharma on Monday said that his statements on Quran and Bible were 'misquoted' and that he have high regards for all religions. Mahesh Sharma had made a controversial statement that Quran and Bible are not central to the soul of India and pressed for making Hindu epics like Ramayana, Mahabharata and Gita compulsory in schools.

On Monday, he said that India is a secular country and respects all religion and that he did not showed any disregard for any religion or their teachings. He, however, also maintained that he will recommend that Ramayana and Gita should be part of our school curriculum to the HRD ministry but the decision will come from the ministry only.
