Naypyitaw, Myanmar, Nov 09 (ANI): The head of the Union Election Commission in Myanmar, Tin Aye, on Monday started announcing the results of the country's first free national election in 25 years. The NLD party, which is led by opposition leader Aung San Suu Kyi, has won all 12 parliamentary seats declared in the first round of results. The 12 seats, all in the country's largest city, Yangon, went to the National League for Democracy (NLD), Tin Aye told a news conference. The acting chairman of Myanmar's ruling party, Htay Oo, conceded defeat to the opposition and said he would accept the result. Although the election appears to have dealt a decisive defeat to the ruling party, a period of uncertainty still looms over the country because it is not clear how Suu Kyi will share power with the still-dominant military.
