Jude Bellingham gets Real Madrid a deserving 3-2 win agianst Manchester City in the 1st leg of the UEFA Champions League playoff tie as City once again concede late in stoppage time. Real's resurgent comeback in the second half handed them a 1-goal lead to take to the Santiago Bernabeu in the 2nd leg. Manchester City had got themselves ahead at the half-time break with a close range goal from none other than their top goal scorer Erling Haaland. His first goal against Real Madrid gave the hosts the lead in the 19th minute as Gvardiol's perfect pass to him inside the box allowed him to calmly slot the ball into the right side of the net. Despite of Real's early pressure and multiple chances on the break which saw Nathan Ake making a goal-line block as well, it was City who tok their chance very well in the 1st half and then piled the pressure on Madrid. madrid did manage to get back in the game and tried to create chances of their own as Vinicius Jr's shot got deflected and hit the bar later in the half. Kylian Mbappe didn't look at his best as he too squandered off a good chance in the final minutes of the half as a rolling ball inside the penalty area was hit high above the bar by him. The second half proved to be the game-changer for Madrid as Mbappe's finish from close range got the visitors level on the night. It was a familiar face for City that Madrid level in the game at 2-2 as Brahim Diaz slotted in the rebound from Viniciuc Jr's shot in the 87th minute. However, the game wasn't over yet as a late counter-attack in the stoppage time saw Vinicius Jr. lift the ball above the rushing Ederson as Bellingham slid in to slot the ball in an empty net in the 92nd minute to hand the defending champions a 3-2 win n the 1st leg.
