Matchday 42 of the Pro Kabaddi League 2024 saw Tamil Thalaivas taking on Haryana Steelers in the first match today at the Noida Indoor Stadium while in the second clash of the day Gujarat Giants took on the defending champions Puneri Paltan. Table toppers Haryana ran riot in Noida on Friday as they thrash Tamil Thalivas to keep their top spot in the points table intact.
PKL 2024 First Match on November 29: Tamil Thalaivas vs Haryana Steelers
Haryana Steelers dominated the Tamil Thalaivas in a crucial match, with a comprehensive 12-point victory. The first half saw the Tamil Thalaivas struggle to find their rhythm. Despite strong defensive performances from Nitesh Kumar, who secured three tackle points, and steady raids from Shivam Patare and Vinay, the Thalaivas were unable to keep pace with the Steelers. The Haryana team’s defence, led by Rahul Sethpal and Naveen, kept the Thalaivas' raiders, Sachin Tanwar and Moein Shafagi, quiet throughout the first half. At halftime, the score was 13-10 in favour of the Steelers.
In the second half, Haryana took control of the match. After Sachin Tanwar was tackled by Vinay in a Do-Or-Die raid, the Steelers continued to extend their lead. Patare achieved a significant milestone, completing 200 raid points in the Pro Kabaddi League, and Vinay’s Super Raid saw him join the 100-point club in PKL season 11. Rahul Sethpal then inflicted the first all-out on the Thalaivas, further weakening their chances of a comeback.
Despite a valiant Super 10 effort from Moein Shafagi, the Tamil Thalaivas were unable to recover from the all-out. Sethpal completed a high-five, and the Steelers' well-rounded performance sealed the game. Vinay finished with nine points, while Naveen and Shivam Patare contributed five and six points, respectively, leading Haryana to a comfortable 12-point win.
PKL 2024 Second Match on November 29: Gujarat Giants vs Puneri Paltan
In the second match of the day, Gujarat Giants and defending champions Puneri Paltan battled in a see-saw contest with both teams having the edge at some points in the match. However, it was the defending champions Puneri Paltan who finally won the battle as they beat Gujarat Giants by 34-33 to go four spots up to number three in the points table.
