AAP to waive high water, electricity bills if wins Delhi polls: Kejriwal

The AAP national convenor Arvind Kejriwal Saturday promised to waive inflated bills for water and electricity if he comes to power again following next year's Delhi assembly elections. Taking part in an event on the occasion of Vishwakarma Day at Transport Nagar here, he said, "I am not a politician like leaders from other parties. For the past 10 years, I have worked for the development of the people. I have been educated by the institute of the country, so I know how to work." He said that when he was in jail in connection with a case related to the Delhi liquor policy scam case, the lieutenant governor was running the city government and people got inflated water and electricity bills. "Do not worry. Now I am out and your bills will be waived when the AAP comes into power in February," Kejriwal said. The AAP supremo claimed that the party's government in Delhi has achieved all-round development in the national capital that ranges from education to health along with free buses fo

BJP files writ petition against AAP for not implementing Ayushman Bharat

The Delhi BJP MPs have filed a writ petition in the High Court against the AAP government's decision to not implement the Ayushman Bharat health insurance scheme in Delhi, state president Virendra Sachdeva said on Wednesday. In a press conference, Sachdeva slammed the AAP and its convener Arvind Kejriwal for depriving lakhs of eligible people in Delhi of the Centre's health insurance scheme. Addressing the issue in a press conference earlier in the day, Kejriwal alleged that the Ayushman Bharat scheme is riddled with scams according to the Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG). He also said the scheme does not require to be implemented in the national capital as health services here are provided free of cost by his government. "This is not my opinion, this is what the CAG says; there are many scams in the Ayushman Bharat Scheme. Treatment under this scheme will only happen when the patient is hospitalised, but there are no conditions regarding hospitalisation in Delhi," ..

AAP targets PM Modi over Ayushman Bharat, calls for adoption of Delhi model

The Aam Aadmi Party on Wednesday kept up its attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi over his remark that the Delhi and West Bengal governments have not implemented the Ayushman Bharat health insurance scheme out of "political interests". A day back, AAP convener Arvind Kejriwal accused the prime minister of doing politics over the issue of public health in the national capital. At a press conference on Wednesday, party spokesperson Priyanka Kakkar termed the Ayushman Bharat health insurance scheme a "scam" and said the PM should study the Delhi health model. "Health is an important issue for the Aam Aadmi Party. We have presented such a model of health that Kofi Annan (former United Nations Secretary-General) appreciated us, and PM Modi has presented a scam under Ayushman Bharat... the CAG has to speak about this fraud," Kakkar said. Prime Minister Modi should examine Arvind Kejriwal's Delhi health model and apply it to the whole country, she added. The spokesperson claimed that o

AAP blames Haryana industrial waste for Yamuna pollution, BJP fires backaap

Delhi is grappling with severe water shortage due to alarmingly high ammonia contamination in the Yamuna river, primarily attributed to industrial waste from Haryana, AAP alleged on Sunday. With the water treatment plants (WTPs) at Sonia Vihar and Bhagirathi struggling to cope with the ammonia content in the Yamuna's raw water, supply in the national capital is being disrupted, it said. The Delhi Jal Board on Sunday announced water shortage till November 1 in several parts of the national capital due to the Yamuna's high ammonia content. "The raw water source of Delhi's 110 MGD (million gallons per day) Bhagirathi WTP and 140 MGD Sonia Vihar WTP is the Upper Ganga Canal, Muradnagar, Uttar Pradesh. Due to scheduled annual maintenance across the Upper Ganga Canal by the Uttar Pradesh irrigation department from October 12 to 31, the canal was closed from Haridwar on October 12 midnight," it said. The WTPs are now dependent on the Yamuna as an alternative source of raw water till Octob

Kejriwal says AAP 'honestly' served Delhi, urges people to reject BJP

The AAP government "honestly" served the people of Delhi for 10 years, doing a lot of the work that no other dispensation in the country had done, party chief Arvind Kejriwal said on Sunday. The former Delhi chief minister, who was taking part in a 'padyatra (foot march)' campaign ahead of the assembly polls, also asked the public not to vote for the BJP. He claimed that the saffron party, if it assumed power in Delhi, would stop the city government's free schemes for electricity, health care, education and bus rides for women. Kejriwal also promised that he would waive "inflated" water bills, urging the people to vote for AAP and help him become chief minister again. "The elections are due in February. I will get these ('inflated' water) bills waived in March," he said. AAP leaders, including Chief Minister Atishi, Kejriwal, Manish Sisodia and Sanjay Singh, among others, have been taking part in foot matches across Delhi under its 'padyatra' campaign ahead of the polls.

Punjab BJP meets governor, blames AAP for slow paddy lifting process

A delegation of Punjab BJP leaders on Sunday met Governor Gulab Chand Kataria and submitted a memorandum alleging inefficiency on part of the AAP government in the state for "tardy" paddy lifting. The delegation urged the governor to intervene and ensure the complete lifting of paddy from mandis as a "gift" to the farmers of the state so that they can "celebrate Diwali and Bandi Chhor Divas with their families". The memorandum said, "Due to inefficiency on the part of the Punjab government, even after 26 days of official commencement of paddy procurement, the Punjab government has failed to lift most of the paddy from the mandis across the state." Paddy procurement for Kharif Marketing Season 2024-25 commenced in Punjab from October 1, according to the BJP delegation that included Avinash Rai Khanna, Preneet Kaur, Harjit Singh Grewal, Rana Gurmeet Singh Sodhi, Vijay Sampla, Vineet Joshi and Fateh Jang Bajwa. Kejriwal accuses BJP of orchestrating attack, dares them to contest polls

AAP convener Arvind Kejriwal on Saturday accused the BJP of orchestrating the "attack" on him during his 'padyatra' in west Delhi's Vikaspuri a day ago and challenged the saffron party to prove its strength by contesting the assembly polls. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has claimed Arvind Kejriwal was allegedly attacked by "BJP goons" during his 'padyatra' campaign on Friday. Reiterating AAP's claims, Kejriwal told a gathering at Badli in northwest Delhi, "Yesterday, they (BJP) attacked me using their goons in Vikaspuri." "Do you want to kill me? If you have the strength, contest the elections," he said, attacking the saffron party. The AAP supremo further urged the voters to not vote for the saffron party, claiming that the BJP will shut down all the free schemes provided by him. "If you vote for the BJP by mistake, they will shut down your children's schools and start sending you electricity bills of Rs 10,000. The people of Delhi have to decide whether they want to vote for those w

'Conspiracy' to kill Kejriwal, BJP responsible if anything happens: AAP

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Saturday alleged a "deep conspiracy" to eliminate its convener Arvind Kejriwal and warned that the BJP will be responsible if anything happens to him. AAP leaders on Friday claimed Kejriwal was attacked by "BJP goons" during his 'padyatra' campaign in west Delhi's Vikaspuri. In a press conference, AAP Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh charged, "Police complicity in the incident clearly shows a deep conspiracy to kill Kejriwal. The BJP has become an enemy of his life." No immediate reaction was available from the police or the BJP over Singh's allegations. The AAP leader, however, said that despite the Vikaspuri incident, Kejriwal will continue to undertake 'padyatra' campaign as per the schedule. When asked why the AAP has not filed any complaint in the incident, Singh said that the incident wouldn't have happened if the police were "impartial" and its officers did not do anything to stop the group of attackers who, he said, belonged to the BJP's youth wing.

Delhi polls: Several leaders hit the streets in AAP's padyatra campaign

The Aam Aadmi Party intensified its "Padyatra" campaign on Tuesday by taking to streets in several Assembly constituencies and asking people to bring back Arvind Kejriwal in the February 2025 election. Former deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia at Krishna Nagar constituency claimed that the people understand that the BJP means "clogged drains, expensive electricity, poor condition of schools." He said the BJP got AAP convener Kejriwal arrested to preventing him from working for the people. Both Kejriwal and Sisodia, arrested in connection with an excise policy case, were released after several months' stay in Tihar jail. "Now people will bring Arvind Kejriwal's government for another five years," he said during the campaign. Party's Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh in Matiala constituency alleged that if the people voted for the BJP, it would stop all "free services" given to them by the AAP government. DCW ends services of contractual staff, Kejriwal assures of reinstatement

Aam Aadmi Party chief Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday accused the BJP of snatching the livelihoods of hundreds of contractual employees of the DCW before Diwali and assured them that they will be reinstated. The Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) in an order earlier on Monday discontinued the services of all its contractual staff with immediate effect. Kejriwal assured the affected workers that his party would fight to get their jobs reinstated. "I assure my sisters who have been fired from DCW that I will get them their jobs back, no matter what it takes," the former Delhi chief minister said in a post on X. Senior Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and former Delhi deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia criticised the BJP for dismissing the contractual staff at the DCW, calling it a direct contradiction of the saffron party's promises of job creation in its manifestos. The BJP has done wrong by snatching the jobs of people just before Diwali. Their manifestos talk about giving employment, but

Criticism is everyone's right, not levelling defamatory allegations: BJP

The BJP said on Tuesday that everyone in politics has a right to criticise but those levelling defamatory allegations will have to suffer consequences, as the Supreme Court cleared the way for AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal to face trial in a defamation case for remarks on Prime Minister Narendra Modi's educational qualifications. BJP leader and Lok Sabha MP Ravi Shankar Prasad claimed that Kejriwal's conduct towards PM Modi has been utterly irresponsible, saying it need not be told the kind of "abuses" he has heaped on Modi. Prasad said Kejriwal offered to tender an apology during the hearing in the Supreme Court on Monday but it was declined. He has become an expert in tendering apologies, the BJP leader said, adding he has apologised 10 times to different leaders, including Arun Jaitley, Nitin Gadkari and Kapil Sibal, for his defamatory remarks. In a swipe at Rahul Gandhi, Prasad described him as a companion of Kejriwal and noted that the Congress leader has also been facing defamati

Not working, only blaming others is in AAP's DNA, says CM Nayab Saini

Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Monday kept up the attack on the Aam Aadmi Party government in Delhi, saying not doing any work and only levelling allegations is in their DNA. Saini on Sunday said the AAP government has a tendency to lie and shift the blame on others for its own shortcomings after Delhi Chief Minister Atishi said the "dirty politics" of the BJP was responsible for the growing air and water pollution in the national capital. Not doing work and only levelling allegations is in their (AAP) DNA, Saini told reporters here Monday evening. Atishi had given a clean chit to AAP-ruled Punjab and blamed 'parali' (paddy stubble) burning, diesel buses and brick kilns in BJP-ruled Haryana for the poor air quality in Delhi. The Delhi chief minister had slammed the BJP, saying the froth in the Yamuna River in Delhi was because of untreated industrial wastewater released in the river by Haryana. When asked about Atishi's allegations on Sunday, Saini had targeted the AA

BJP slams Kejriwal for pricey items at Flagstaff bungalow, Atishi hits back

The BJP on Sunday, citing an unverified inventory, alleged that crores of rupees were spent on state-of-the-art household goods including a "missing" hi-tech toilet seat in the 6, Flagstaff Road bungalow which was occupied for over nine years by the AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal as Delhi chief minister. Kejriwal after stepping down as the Delhi chief minister vacated the Flagstaff Road bungalow earlier this month. No immediate reaction was available from the Public Works Department (PWD) of the Delhi government which owns and allots the bungalow, on the inventory of items shared by the BJP. The bungalow was allotted to Kejriwal's successor Atishi who has yet to take its possession. Atishi in a press conference replying to the charges of the saffron party said "BJP can keep the house and allot it to any of its leaders. We don't care about the house, bungalow or car. We will work for the people of Delhi, even if we have to work from the street." BJP national IT department head Amit ..

AAP habitual of lying, blaming others for their shortcomings: CM Saini

Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Sunday hit out at the Aam Aadmi Party's government in Delhi saying it has a tendency to lie and shift blame on others for its own shortcomings. He criticised the AAP dispensation for consistently pointing fingers at others "while failing to acknowledge its own failures." Saini's response came after Delhi Chief Minister Atishi, earlier in the day, said the "dirty politics" of the BJP is responsible for growing air and water pollution in the national capital. According to a Haryana government statement released on late Sunday evening, Saini said that the BOD (Biochemical oxygen demand) of the water supplied to Delhi from Haryana is about 2-3 mg per litre. "Apart from this, the BOD of the water supplied to Delhi through the CLC canal is equal to zero. But the Delhi government should tell who is responsible for the pollution in the 28 drains that carry water from the Delhi border to Okhla," Saini said. He said that the AAP government has a .
