Czech investment group buys 27% stake in EPL club West Ham

An investment group from the Czech Republic has bought a 27% stake in West Ham, the Premier League club said Wednesday. Daniel Kretnsk, the chairman of 1890s holdings a.s, and his colleague Pavel Horsk have become members of West Ham's board as a result of the acquisition. Co-chairmen David Gold and David Sullivan have controlled West Ham since 2010 and the club has made impressive strides in recent years under manager David Moyes, with the team currently in third place in the Premier League after its 3-2 win over Liverpool on Sunday. Having been to the London Stadium recently to watch David Moyes' team, I know it is an incredible time to become part of the West Ham United family," said Kretnsk, who is the co-owner of Czech soccer team Sparta Prague. "I feel privileged to now have the opportunity to help everyone here build on the proud traditions of this great club. Smith Rowe shines as Arsenal beats Aston Villa 3-1 in Premier League

Arsenal delivered its best performance of the season to beat Aston Villa 3-1 in the Premier League. Arsenal was completely dominant for most of the game and built a 3-0 lead before Jacob Ramsey pulled a late goal back for Villa, which then pressured for the last 10 minutes without coming closer. Thomas Partey opened the scoring in the 23rd minute with his first Arsenal goal before Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang doubled the lead just before halftime, converting the rebound after seeing his penalty saved. Midfielder Emile Smith Rowe capped an impressive display by adding the third in the 56th on a quick counterattack. The win lifts Arsenal up to ninth place ahead of the weekend games, with 14 points. It was a much improved performance from Mikel Arteta's side, which needed an injury-time equalizer from Alexandre Lacazette to salvage a draw at home against Crystal Palace on Monday. I'm really satisfied, Arteta said. "The way we started the game, our tempo, our urgency, how dominant we w

Arsenal humiliates Spurs, seasons head in opposite direction

However bad things have seemed for Arsenal over the last decade, beating Tottenham at the Emirates Stadium can usually be relied on. Just not usually as emphatically as Sunday's north London derby triumph a 3-1 victory helping to clear the early-season gloom for Mikel Arteta's side. Never before in the Premier League has Arsenal scored three goals as quickly in a derby. The goals inside the opening 34 minutes from Emile Smith Rowe, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Bukayo Saka rattled Tottenham and gave Arsenal fans an afternoon of gloating in the late September sun. "It's quite easy when you have boys like this they always listen, always ready to learn, Aubameyang said. They feel free when they play. That's why they're doing amazing." It was a month ago as August was drawing to a close that Arsenal had opened the season with three losses including at defending champion Manchester City without scoring while Tottenham was top with a perfect start. Juventus announces Ronaldo exit, signs Kean as a replacement

Minutes after announcing the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo, Juventus secured his replacement. The Italian club on Tuesday said Moise Kean was returning on a two-year loan deal from Everton, with an obligation to buy him subject to meeting certain targets. The Italy forward will cost 7 million euros ($8.3 million) over two seasons and cost 28 million euros ($33 million) for a permanent transfer. Kean started his professional career at Juventus in 2016, having joined the club six years earlier. He moved to Everton in 2019 but never held down a regular starting spot and went out on loan to Paris Saint-Germain last season. Harry Kane accepts he will be staying at Tottenham for now

Harry Kane publicly accepted on Wednesday that he won't be leaving Tottenham in the summer transfer window. The striker had been hoping to secure a transfer away from the London club in the search of a first career trophy but a move to Premier League champion Manchester City was unable to be clinched. The power was with the Tottenham leadership as the England captain remains under contract until 2024 and a valuation of more than $200 million for him had been reported. "I will be staying at Tottenham this summer and will be 100% focused on helping the team achieve success," Kane posted on Twitter on Wednesday. The need to reiterate he is staying for now at least reinforced how he sought a move which was first floated in an interview with former England player Gary Neville in May. Kane, who was the top scorer in the Premier League last season as Tottenham finished seventh, made his first appearance of this campaign as a substitute on Sunday in the 1-0 win over Wolverhampton. Goal feast for fans as Manchester United, Chelsea, Liverpool win in EPL

The return of near-capacity crowds fueled a barrage of goals and a bunch of home wins in the English Premier League. Fans at Old Trafford particularly enjoyed themselves. More than 72,000 spectators Britain's biggest soccer crowd since the pandemic saw Bruno Fernandes' hat trick and Paul Pogba's four assists sweep Manchester United to a 5-1 thrashing of fierce rival Leeds, a statement of intent from a team whose last of its record 20 top-flight titles came in 2013. It was the highest-scoring encounter on a day featuring 25 goals across seven matches, at an average of 3.57 much higher than a typical season's average. The presence of fans may also have contributed to there being five home wins, an immediate swing from last season when there were more away wins (40% compared to 38% for home teams). Chelsea, the European champion and a big title contender like United, flexed its early-season muscles by overwhelming Crystal Palace in a 3-0 win that could have been heavier in front of
