Housing sales up 11% in Jan-Jun to hit 10-yr peak in 8 cities: Knight Frank

Indian real estate market remained buoyant in January-June this year, with housing sales hitting an 11-year high at 1.73 lakh units and office demand at a record 34.7 million square feet across eight major cities, according to Knight Frank. On an annual basis, housing sales rose 11 per cent to 1,73,241 units while leasing of office space grew 33 per cent to 34.7 million square feet during January-June this year across eight major cities. Gurugram waterlogged after heavy rains; residents face traffic woes

Heavy rains in Gurugram early Friday morning led to severe inundation, particularly in residential areas, and traffic jams across the city. Significant waterlogging was reported in Dwarka Expressway, Sector 9, Sector 21, Sector 23, Greenwood City, Ardee City, Palam Vihar, Bhim Nagar, and MG Road, making it difficult for residents to step out of their homes. The Delhi-Gurugram Expressway was also affected after rains lashed the city on Thursday night and Friday morning. According to the rainfall data till 7.30 am on Friday, Sohna received 82 mm of rainfall, followed by 55 mm at Wazirabad, 30 mm at Gurugram, while Pataudi received the lowest rainfall at 3 mm. Euronics aims to double turnover to Rs 400 cr by 2025-26: MD & CEO Jain

Public washroom automation firm Euronics is looking to double its turnover to Rs 400 crore by 2025-26 with its new manufacturing plant at Gurugram set to become operational to fulfil 50 per cent of its orders. The company has invested Rs 100 crore to set up the washroom automation accessories production unit at Gurugram with an annual production capacity of 2 lakh units and it will become operational this month. "In the last financial year we were around Rs 200 crore... This year we are looking at close to Rs 280 crore to Rs 290 crore and in FY25-26 we are chasing Rs 400 crore turnover," Euronics MD & CEO Viknesh Jain told PTI. Major fire breaks out in local slum cluster in Gurugram, 65 shanties gutted

About 65 shanties were gutted after a major fire broke out in local slum cluster in sector 65 here on Saturday, a fire official said. Initial investigations have revealed the cause of the fire was a cooking gas leakage, the official said. According to police, a fire broke out in the sector 65 area around 10 am. Five fire engines were immediately pressed into the service, they said, adding that the blaze was brought under control but 65 shanties were gutted. There were no casualties or burn injuries reported, the police said. After receiving the information, DCP South Siddhant Jain and his team reached the spot and evacuated many people, including small children, from the shanties. A senior police officer said these shanties were built by three persons -- Ombir, Shyambir and Sagar, residents of Ramgarh village -- who later handed them over to contractor Hamid, a native of West Bengal. Bandhwari landfill fire: NGT issues notice to environment ministry, others

The National Green Tribunal has sought a response from authorities, including the Union Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC), regarding the blaze in the Bandhwari landfill site in Gurugram last week. A fire broke out at the site along the Gurugram-Faridabad Road, days after a massive blaze erupted at the Ghazipur waste site in east Delhi. Waste collected by the civic bodies in Gurugram and Faridabad is dumped at the site. The NGT was hearing the matter where it had taken suo motu (on its own) cognisance of a newspaper report regarding the fire. Rental yields in housing properties located at Gurugram and Noida have improved over the last few years and stood at 4.1 per cent and 3.7 per cent, respectively, during the latest March quarter, according to Anarock. Rental yield is the annual return on investment (ROI) investors earn from capital invested in a property. Real estate consultant Anarock report mentioned that there has been a steep rise in rental housing demand in the top cities. As a result, average rental values have soared and rental yields have been heading steadily north. Gurugram has highest voter count in Haryana with over 2.5 million voters

Haryana's Chief Electoral Officer Anurag Agarwal Sunday said with more than 25 lakh voters, Gurugram Lok Sabha constituency has the highest voter count for a parliamentary constituency in the state. Gurugram has 25,46,916 voters, of which 13,47,521 are male, 11,99,317 are female and 78 are transgenders, whereas in Faridabad Lok Sabha constituency, the number of voters is 24,14,168, of which 13,10,206 are male, 11,03,844 female, and 118 transgenders. Polling for all the 10 Lok Sabha seats in Haryana will take place on May 25 followed by counting on June 4. The notification for elections will be issued on April 29. Gurugram cops nab 4 cyber criminals for defrauding people of over Rs 4.5 cr

The Gurugram cyber police have arrested four fraudsters for allegedly duping hundreds of people across the country of over Rs 4.5 crore, officials said. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Cyber) Siddhant Jain said four mobile phones and Rs 32000 in cash were recovered from the accused. He added that after examining these SIM cards and reviewing the data from the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Center (I4C), it was found that the fraud of about Rs 4.5 crore has been committed by these accused across the country. The accused have been identified as Nitish, resident of Chomu in Rajasthan; Monu from Bhonkarka village; Ravikant from Samastipur, Bihar; and Vikas Kumar from Vaishali district, Bihar, police said. One of the two men seen in a CCTV footage opening fire outside Bollywood superstar Salman Khan's house in Mumbai is suspected to be from Gurugram, sources in the Delhi Police said on Sunday.
