Rising costs dampen Eid travel, spending, and holiday spirit in Indonesia

The usual festive mood of Eid al-Fitr holiday to mark the end of the Islamic holy month of Ramzan has been subdued in Indonesia this year as people grapple with soaring prices for food, clothing and essential goods. Consumer spending ahead of the biggest religious holiday for Muslims, which was celebrated on Sunday in Indonesia, has declined compared to the previous year, with a predicted slowdown in cash circulation due to fewer travellers. R-Day: Murmu, Indonesian counterpart arrive at Kartavya Path in buggy

President Droupadi Murmu and her Indonesian counterpart Prabowo Subianto arrived at Kartavya Path for the 76th Republic Day parade on Sunday in a traditional buggy, a practice that made a comeback after a 40-year gap last year.
