Cong, BJP took no step for welfare of farmers in last 70 years: Kejriwal

AAP national convener and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has accused the BJP and the Congress of "not taking steps" to ensure remunerative crop prices to farmers, employment generation and improving health and education services since Independence. German railway reaches pay deal with main union

German railway operator Deutsche Bahn and its main union said Saturday they had reached a pay deal after strikes disrupted services earlier this week. The EVG union, which represents most of the 160,000 DB workers, agreed a 6.1 percent pay rise in all -- 3.5 percent payable from July 2019 and 2.6 percent from July 2020. EVG originally demanded a 7.5 percent pay hike while DB offered 5.1 percent. Employees will also get a one-off payment of 1,000 euros ($1,130) just before the first phase salary increase, EVG and DB said. EVG negotiator Regina Rusch-Ziemba said the union had won comprehensively after strike action had "sent a clear sign" to the company of workers' determination. The agreement "is an important sign of (DB's) esteem for its workers," DB human resources head Martin Seiler said in a statement. 85 govt & pvt firms raided over min wages rule violation: Rai

The Delhi government's labour department has so far raided 85 government and private establishments after receiving complaints of non-payment of minimum wages and other irregularities. As part of its ongoing drive, the department has come across 79 cases of irregularities, Delhi Labour Minister Gopal Rai said Friday. The complaints include non-payment of minimum wages, confiscation of bank passbooks and cheque books, not giving details of provident fund and forcing workers to return a portion of wages, he said. The department has also given three police complaints with respect to violations of Minimum Wages Act against firms supplying outsourced staff at state-run establishments, including hospitals, he said. "So far 85 raids have been made on different government and private offices and establishments. Apple announces plan to build USD 1 billion campus in Texas

Apple says it plans to build a USD 1 billion campus in Austin, Texas. Odisha govt to include more people in social security schemes:

Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik Wednesday announced the state government's decision to include more people in the social security programmes like Madhu Babu Pension Scheme and Artists Pension Scheme. He said it has been decided to give Madhu Babu pension to additional five lakh people, 40,000 artists will get fresh pension from December 15, 2018. Patnaik announced this while reviewing the state's newly launched "Peoples Empowerment, Enabling, Transparency and Accountability" or PEETHA programme. The new programme aims to improve transparency in the distribution of individual and social benefits. Stating that the government's aim is to cover all the beneficiaries under the social security programme, Patnaik said as many as 43 lakh people are already availing Madhu Babu Pension at the rate of Rs 300 and Rs 500 per month. The artist pension scheme provides Rs 1,200 per month. The chief minister said the district collectors have been instructed to distribute pensions to .

Delhi labour minister orders registration of FIR against firm for violating minimum wages rules

Delhi Labour Minister Gopal Rai on Tuesday ordered the registration of an FIR against an outsourcing firm at state-run Madan Mohan Malaviya Hospital for allegedly not complying with minimum wages rules, an official statement said. According to the statement, the action came after Rai made a surprise inspection at the hospital in Malviya Nagar area on Tuesday, as part of the government's 10-day special drive to check the minimum wage rules notified by the Aam Aadmi Party dispensation. It stated that the minister found alleged irregularities during the inspection and ordered registration of an FIR against the company.
