Registration of migrant workers, vendors, hawkers mandatory in Hamirpur

The registration of migrant workers, street vendors, hawkers and other outsiders temporarily living in different areas of this Himachal Pradesh district has been made mandatory to maintain law and order, an official said on Sunday. Issuing an order in this regard, the District Magistrate (DM) Hemraj Bairwa said a large number of labourers, street vendors and hawkers and other people from outside states come to work in the district and they often live in rented houses or at various construction sites. The orders have been issued to prevent any kind of untoward incidents in the district and to maintain law and order, he said adding that police often find it difficult to investigate cases involving outsiders as their details are not available and therefore registration is important. The DM has also ordered all the contractors and businessmen to get all their workers registered at their nearest police station. The locals have also been instructed to ensure the identity and registration

Delhi would've been safest had law and order been under AAP, says Kejriwal

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday said the national capital would have been the safest place had the law and order situation been under the AAP dispensation instead of the Lieutenant Governor. His remarks came after two women were allegedly shot dead by unidentified assailants in R K Puram in southwest Delhi Sunday morning. "Our thoughts are with the families of the two women. May their souls rest in peace. The people of Delhi have started feeling quite insecure. Those who are responsible for handling the law and order situation in Delhi are hatching conspiracy to take control of Delhi government instead of fixing the situation," Kejriwal said in a tweet in Hindi. "Had the law and order situation been under the AAP dispensation instead of the LG, Delhi would have been the safest," he added. The AAP had on earlier occasions too attacked Lt Governor V K Saxena over the alleged "deteriorating" law and order situation in the city.

Law and order improved in Tripura in past 5 years; steep fall in crimes: CM

Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha on Wednesday asserted that that the law and order situation has improved in the state in the past five years "with the crime graph showing a steep decline". Opposition CPI(M), however, rebuffed the assertion, claiming that the state has never experienced such lawlessness where rival camp leaders are attacked and stopped from carrying out political activities. Saha, who chaired a meeting of senior police officers during the day, said that cases of assault, rape and murder have decreased in Tripura since 2018, after the BJP formed government in the state. "Today, I held a high-level meeting with the director general of police and district superintendents of police (SPs) to review the prevailing law and order situation. The reports submitted to me showed a steep decline in all crimes, be it hurt, assault, rape or murder. "In case of hurt or assault, an overall 40 per cent decline was registered since 2018.
