Sebi invites applications to hire for 25 senior-level posts in legal dept

Capital markets regulator Sebi on Thursday invited applications for 25 senior-level posts in the legal department. The recruitment drive would beef up the headcount at the Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi) for faster and more effective execution of its regulatory role. In its public notice, Sebi has invited applications from Indian citizens for the post of Officer Grade A (Assistant Manager) in the legal stream. The candidates can apply for the posts through online mode till July 9. The regulator will conduct online examinations for the recruitment of these positions during August-September. To apply for this position, the applicants are required to have a bachelor's degree in Law from a recognised university or institute. While inviting applications, Sebi has also cautioned candidates against falling prey to any unscrupulous elements who may try to deceive them by false promises of securing jobs in the regulator, according to a public notice. Sebi reconstitutes intermediary advisory committee for legal framework

Sebi has reconstituted its intermediary advisory committee, which suggests on matters pertaining to changes in legal framework and enhancing transparency in systems and procedures of market intermediaries including stock brokers, depository participants and clearing members. Rejigging its committee, the capital markets regulator said the panel will continue to be chaired by S Ravindran Jain, former executive director at Sebi. The 21-member committee has representation from the brokerage industry, financial institutions, legal fields and Sebi's members, as per the information available with the markets watchdog. Legality to same sex marriage will have adverse impact on society: Survey

Same sex marriage is against the natural order of humanity and it will have an adverse impact on Indian society if legalised, a Pune-based women's organisation has claimed in a survey report. In its report, the Drishti Stree Adhyayan Prabodhan Kendra, which follows the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) line of thought, said that some people also believe that "legalisation of such marriages will create and promote anarchy and chaos in society". Responses of 57,614 people in 13 languages from across the country were taken for the survey on "the potential impact of same sex marriage on women, children and society if it gets a legal cover", it said. The respondents were from four different age groups and they identified themselves as "male, female and other gender".
