Pernod Ricard aims threefold jump in sales in Indian market by next decade

French Spirits maker Pernod Ricard expects a threefold jump in its sales in the Indian market by next decade, led by macroeconomic tailwinds, favourable demographic dividend and growing premiumisation in IMFL and imported brands here. According to Pernod Ricard India MD Jean Touboul, the Indian market, currently ranked at number two globally, has the potential to become a leader in the next 10-15 years, replacing the US market, for the company. AAP leader Sanjay Singh on Saturday urged a court here to release him, saying no purpose will be served by keeping him in further custody in a money laundering case related to the alleged Delhi excise scam. Singh's counsel made the submission before Special Judge M K Nagpal during the hearing of his bail application. He told the court that he was not required for further investigation and that the probe against him was over. "The ED has already filed its charge sheet against me after the completion of the investigation. I'm not required for the custodial interrogation any further. Organised liquor industry to see rise in revenue on strong demand: Report

Strong demand and premiumisation are driving revenues of the organised liquor industry higher and the operating profitability of distillers and brewers is expected to increase amid softening of input costs, says a report. According to a Crisil Ratings report, the revenues of the organised liquor industry are expected to rise by 12-13 per cent this fiscal to Rs 4.45 lakh crore, on top of a 15-16 per cent growth last fiscal. Accordingly, the operating profitability of distillers and brewers is expected to increase by 100-150 bps with softening of input costs. This will also have a positive reflection on their credit profiles with strong balance sheets on back of significant deleveraging in the last three fiscals, the report said on Tuesday. The agency said the report is based on the largest 33 liquor companies, which account for around 15 per cent of the organised liquor segment revenue. Pre-Diwali liquor sale in Delhi registers growth of more than 37%

Pre-Diwali sale of liquor in Delhi has registered a growth of more than 37 per cent on the average number of bottles sold during the fortnight before the festival compared to the same period last year, officials said on Friday. According to excise department figures, 2.26 crore bottles of liquor were sold two weeks before Diwali last year. This year, in the last fortnight, 2.58 crore bottles were sold. On Monday, 14.25 lakh bottles were sold. The figure rose to 17.27 lakh bottles on Tuesday and 17.33 lakh on Wednesday. During the three days before Diwali last year, 13.46 lakh, 15 lakh and 19.39 lakh bottles were sold, respectively. The average number of bottles sold over a period of two weeks before Diwali last year was 12.56 lakh. This year so far, the figure is at 17.21 lakh, which means a jump of more than 37 per cent, an excise department officer said. Delhi's retail liquor trade records sharp decline compared to Q1FY23

The retail liquor trade in Delhi has recorded a sharp decline as compared to the first quarter (April-June) in 2022, when the now-scrapped excise policy of the city government was in place, according to a report prepared by the Confederation of Indian Alcoholic Beverage Companies (CIABC). Liquor sales volume grows 14% in FY23, premium segment over Rs 1k grows 48%

Sales of Indian-made foreign liquor (IMFL) rose by 14 per cent in volume terms to 385 million cases in FY 2022-23 while premium products priced over Rs 1,000 per 750ml bottle grew by 48 per cent, according to industry body CIABC. Sales are almost 12 per cent higher than the pre-Covid levels of FY 2019-20, indicating that the impact of Covid has fully worn off, it said. The industry is expected to grow in the current fiscal by 8 per cent to end around 412-415 million cases (9 litres each), the report by the Confederation of Indian Alcoholic Beverage Companies (CIABC) stated.
