IND vs ENG: Gambhir defends India's high-risk, high-reward approach in T20s

India head coach Gautam Gambhir said the team is ready to push the barriers in T20 Internationals with the adoption of a fresh "high-risk, high-reward" approach, and the target is now "to get 250-260 regularly in the format. That shift in mindset was evident in India's 4-1 mauling of England in the just-concluded five-match series. In the fourth T20I at Pune, India kept attacking England despite losing wickets to eventually set a match-winning 181 for 9, and at Mumbai on Sunday, the hosts raced to 247 for 9, their fourth highest total in this format. "That's the kind of T20 cricket we want to play. We don't want to fear losing a game of cricket. We want to play high-risk, high-reward cricket. And these guys have adopted that ideology really well, Gambhir told the host broadcaster after the match on Sunday. Gambhir said they are looking to post tall totals in the vicinity of 250 in every game, and he doesn't mind getting out for a low score in some matches while attempting to achiev

IND vs ENG: Suryakumar admits not finishing ENG as reason for Rajkot loss

India skipper Suryakumar Yadav admitted his team failed to mop up the England tail after having the visitors on the mat and credited "world-class" spinner Adil Rashid for making life difficult for his batters during their 26-run loss in the third T20I here on Tuesday. India had reduced England to 127/8 in 16 overs but allowed the visitors to post 171/9 in 20 overs. In their chase of 172, the hosts managed just 145/9, falling short by 26 runs. "I felt there would be a little dew later in the day. I feel we had the game in our hands when Hardik and Axar were batting. Credit goes to Adil Rashid, he bowled really well. That's why he is a world-class bowler. He didn't allow us to rotate the strike," Suryakumar said during the post-match presentation. "I feel you always learn something from a T20 game. I felt when we were bowling around 127/8 to 170, I think that was too much at the end. We've got to learn from the batting point of view. Got to go back to the drawing board and learn from

SA20: Capitals sink Joburg to keep themselves alive in race to playoffs

A rejuvenated Pretoria Capitals registered a six-wicket bonus point victory over Joburg Super Kings to remain in the race for the SA20 playoff berth here. The Capitals restricted the Super Kings to a paltry 99 for 9 and then eased past the target losing just four wickets for a crucial win. With this win, the Capitals moved up to 14 points - just one point behind the fourth-placed Super Kings on 15. The captain's armband was also passed to Kyle Verreynne after Rilee Rossouw withdrew due to the birth of his child. Knowing that only a victory would keep their hopes of qualifying for the playoffs alive, the Capitals produced their most clinical performance of the season thus far. Will Jacks set the tone with the ball, conceding just two runs from his two overs in the Powerplay, which was just the confidence booster the Capitals required. Super Kings, on the other hand, were unable to set any form of a platform, especially after the in-form Devon Conway was forced to leave the field i

Pacers run riot as Joburg Super Kings secure bonus-point win vs Sunrisers

Pacers Lutho Sipamla and Hardus Vijoen ripped through the Sunrises Eastern Cape to drive Joburg Super Kings to a comprehensive nine-wicket bonus point victory in their SA20 match here. After all the rain the Highveld has experienced the past weeks, the Super Kings fans streamed through the turnstiles at the Wanderers to take in the perfect summer's day to support their team. The yellow whistles bristling around the Bullring had an immediate effect with Sipamla (3/13) gaining the ultimate redemption. After the young fast bowler over-stepped at St George's Park on Friday evening when he clean bowled Zak Crawley with the first ball of the innings, Sipamla followed it up on Sunday by having the England Test batter caught at slip this time. It was the perfect start for both Sipamla and the Super Kings. With his confidence restored, the fast bowler charged in and claimed a second wicket when Tom Abell chopped on to his stumps to leave the Sunrisers reeling at 0/2 after the first over. F
