Changing your name on Aadhaar? UIDAI’s new rules explained | Aadhaar card update

The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has revised its Aadhaar name-update rules, effective September 18, with different document requirements for minor corrections, data-entry errors and major name changes. Minor corrections require valid Proof of Identity documents, while data-entry errors require additional affidavits. For a complete name change or a change amounting to a different identity, applicants will need a Gazette Notification and prescribed identity documents.
