New Delhi, Jan 12 (ANI): Ahead of Uttar Pradesh Assembly Election, former Congress and Samajwadi Party MLAs joined BJP on January 12. They joined Bhartiya Janata Party in presence of Uttar Pradesh BJP chief Swatantra Dev Singh, Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya and Dinesh Sharma. The polling in Uttar Pradesh will be held on February 10, 14, 20, 23, 27, and March 3 and 7 in seven phases.
Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh), Jan 12 (ANI): Utkrist Maurya Ashok, son of former Uttar Pradesh Cabinet Minister Swami Prasad Maurya on January 11 clarified that his father is not asking for tickets for him or his sister. His clarification came a day after the resignation of Uttar Pradesh Cabinet Minister Swami Prasad Maurya. “Even today, there is no such issue that my father wants a ticket for me or my sister. My father and the party will decide if I have to contest the election or they want me as a party worker for the upcoming Assembly polls,” Utkrisht Maurya Ashok said.
Chandigarh (Punjab), Jan 12 (ANI): Ahead of the Punjab Assembly Elections, Jaswinder Singh Dhaliwal, cousin brother of the Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi joined the BJP on January 11 in Chandigarh, Punjab. He joined the party in the presence of Punjab BJP in-charge Gajendra Singh Shekhawat. Many political leaders are switching their sides ahead of the elections. The Punjab Assembly Elections will be held on February 14.
Chandigarh, Jan 12 (ANI): Ahead of Punjab Assembly Polls, National Convenor of Aam Aadmi Party and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on January 12 said that the party will declare the Chief Minister face next week. “We assure the people of Punjab to improve the law and order situation and ensure justice in all previous incidents of sacrilege if AAP comes to power. Security will be ensured to all - be it PM or anyone else,” said Kejriwal.The Punjab Assembly Polls will be held on February 14.
Panaji (Goa), Jan 12 (ANI): Soon after joining Congress on January 11, former Goa BJP Minister Michael Lobo lambasted on BJP and said that the party has forgotten the legacy of former Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar. “I have not asked anyone for a ticket (for my wife). BJP has forgotten former Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar's legacy,” he added. The Goa Assembly Elections will be held on February 14.
Mumbai, Jan 11 (ANI): Ahead of Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections, Mumbai Mayor Kishori Pednekar on January 11 said, “There is no such decision on curtailing the age limit for tickets in Shiv Sena for Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections; decision will be taken by Aditya Thackeray. They will take a call over the ones having criminal records.”
Lucknow (UP), Jan 11 (ANI): Ahead of Uttar Pradesh Assembly Elections, State Cabinet Minister Swami Prasad Maurya on January 11 resigned from his ministerial post citing that the reason behind his resignation is government’s attitude. “I have resigned from the Yogi Cabinet keeping in mind the government's attitude against Dalits, backward classes, farmers, youths and traders. I will consult with my supporters and decided on joining another party,” said Swami Prasad Maurya.
Panaji (Goa), Jan 11 (ANI): Ahead of the Assembly elections in Goa, State Minister Govind Gaude on January 11 announced to contest the polls on a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) ticket.“I have decided to resign as a minister and an Independent MLA today to join Bharatiya Janata Party,” said Govind Gaude.
Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh), Jan 11 (ANI): Ahead of Uttar Pradesh Assembly Polls, BSP General Secretary Satish Chandra Misra on January 11 clarified that party's supremo Mayawati will not contest Assembly Polls. "Former Chief Minister Mayawati and I will not contest the assembly elections. Neither Samajwadi Party nor BJP will come to power, BSP is going to form the government in Uttar Pradesh," Misra added. The Uttar Pradesh Assembly polls will be held from February 10 to March 07.
New Delhi, Jan 11 (ANI): Ahead of Uttar Pradesh Assembly polls, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath arrived at Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Headquarters in Delhi for Core Committee Meeting. State Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya along with other leaders also arrived to attend the meeting. The meeting is to discuss the poll strategy and to deliberate the names of probable candidates for the Assembly polls. The Uttar Pradesh Assembly polls will be held from February 10 to March 07.

Chandigarh, Jan 10 (ANI): Following the Election Commission’s guidelines to encourage digital poll campaigning amid the surge in COVID-19 cases across the country, Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) President Sukhbir Singh Badal on January 10 said that EC should look at every aspect. “EC should look at every aspect. The poor and the people in rural areas don't have access to these facilities. EC should call an all-party meeting to reach a consensus regarding the campaigning,” Badal added.

Panaji (Goa), Jan 10 (ANI): Ahead of Goa Assembly elections, BJP leader Michael Lobo resigned from Cabinet on January 10. Lobo while speaking to media said that he was unhappy with the working of the party and the way party workers were looked upon. “I have resigned as Goa minister; hope people of Calangute constituency will respect my decision. I will also resign as MLA, will see what step to take next. I am in talks with other political parties. I was upset with the way we are looked at and party workers are unhappy,” said Michael Lobo.
Prayagraj (UP), Jan 10 (ANI): Ahead of Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections, MSME Minister and Spokesperson Sidharth Nath Singh on January 09, took a dig on Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Akhilesh Yadav and said that he knows that he'll lose, and is therefore looking for new excuses every day. Talking to ANI, Singh said, "Akhilesh Yadav knows very well that he is going to lose the Assembly elections so he is finding new excuses every day. Yesterday he accused the Election Commission, saying digital elections are unfair. Today, he wrote to the EC demanding suspension of government officers." Uttar Pradesh will go to the assembly polls in 7 phases from February 10 to March 7. The poll panel said the counting of votes will take place on March 10.
Lucknow (UP), Jan 09 (ANI): Following the Election Commission’s announcement of the schedule for five states Assembly polls and related COVID restrictions, Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati on January 09 said that the commission must ensure free and fair elections.“All States poll must be held peacefully. Police admin must work without bias. The people of Uttar Pradesh should vote for development. Our party will follow all guidelines of EC. I will chair a meeting today regarding the final selection of candidates. Fear of the Election Commission is necessary for the government machinery. EC must ensure free and fair elections. BJP will lose this election if they will not misuse government machinery and not manipulate the voting machines,” Mayawati added.
