Expecting more medal in women's wrestling: Geeta Phogat on Asian Games

Vijayanagar (Karnataka), Aug 15 (ANI): Commenting on the upcoming 18th Asian Games, famous Indian wrestler Geeta Phogat said she is expecting more medal in women's wrestling. The Sports Ministry on August 11 gave a go-ahead to an 804-member Indian contingent, including 572 athletes, for the upcoming 18th Asian Games. Asian Games are slated to be held from August 18 to September 2 in the Indonesian cities of Jakarta and Palembang.

Roger Federer 'anxious' ahead of Cincinnati Open

New Delhi, Aug 14 (ANI): Twenty-time Grand Slam Champion Roger Federer, who will be making his first hard-court appearance since Miami Open in March, has said that he is anxious ahead of the Cincinnati Open. The 37-year-old, however, asserted that he is happy to be back and hoping for a good tournament ahead. "I've been practicing on hard courts, so it's not like I haven't played on hard courts for forever. I feel I am really ready to go. Anxious actually," ATP website quoted Federer, as saying. "Cincy has been a great tournament for me in the past. It's great to be back and hopefully I can play a good tournament," he added. The Cincinnati Open will be Federer's first tournament since Wimbledon where he was stunned 2-6, 6-7 (5), 7-5, 6-4, 13-11 by South Africa's Kevin Anderson in the quarter-final of the championship. Asian Games 2018: Rajyavardhan Rathore attends sending off ceremony

New Delhi, Aug 10 (ANI): Union Minister of State (I/C) for Sports Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore participated in the sending off ceremony for the Indian Contingent for the 18th Asian Games to be held in Jakarta. U-20 COTIF Cup: Football men's team arrives India after defeating Argentina

New Delhi, Aug 10 (ANI): Indian national Under-20 men's football team that beat Argentina in the COTIF Cup in Spain on August 6 arrived at the IGI Airport in Delhi early this morning. India's Under-20 team defeated Argentina 2-1 in a mouth-watering contest at the COTIF Cup in Spain. Despite being reduced to 10 men after Aniket Jadhav was shown the red card at 54th minute, the team was successful in beating the six time Under-20 World Cup champions. Deepak Tangri and Anwar Ali scored the goals for India in the 4th and 68th minute, respectively.

U-17 football team returns home after becoming champion at SOAG

Agartala (Tripura), Aug 04 (ANI): Members of the Under-17 football team from Tripura, who became champions of the Students Olympic Asian Games (SOAG) by defeating Pakistan, returned to India. Executive Member of Sports and Youth Affairs of ADC Parikhshit Murasingh welcomed the boys, who became the best football team of Asia Continent.
