Marco Rubio is an American politician currently serving as the 72nd Secretary of State under the US President Donald Trump&rsquo;s second administration.

	Born in 1971 to Cuban immigrants, Rubio is passionate about the American Dream, having lived it himself. Drawn to public service, he served as a City Commissioner in West Miami and as Speaker of the Florida House of Representatives. In 2010, Rubio won a seat in the US Senate, serving as a Senator of Florida until 2025.</div>

	During his tenure as a Senator, Rubio gained national attention for his conservative approach to foreign policy and stance on immigration. 	Marco Rubio authored and passed the Uyghur Forced Labour Prevention Act, marking a major shift in US-China relations in recent decades. He also co-led the Hong Kong Relations Act and the VERDAD Act.</div>

	During the first Trump administration, Rubio collaborated with the President to hold members of the Cuban regime accountable, targeting the military-run holding company of the dictatorship. Additionally, he created the Paycheck Protection Program, which helped save millions of small businesses across America during the Covid-19 pandemic.</div>

	In November 2024, President Trump nominated Marco Rubio as Secretary of State. He became the first cabinet member confirmed in the second Trump administration, receiving a historic unanimous 99&ndash;0 Senate vote. He took over the Cabinet position on January 21, 2025.</div>
