Essar arm bags first global project

The company's pipeline division has been awarded the $56 million nickel slurry pipeline project in Madagascar, Africa. This project is scheduled to be completed within 13 months.
When contacted, a company spokesperson declined to comment. "The pipeline will transport nickel ore in slurry form from Ambatovy Nickel Cobalt mining ore to the port of Taomasina, from where it will be exported. While SNC Lavalin, Canada is the EPCM contractor for the project, Essar will execute the pipeline project along with Consolidated Contractors Group, Greece," said an industry source.
ECIL has started shifting its manpower and equipment to Madagascar to execute the project. It will execute 95.38 km out of the total 240 km, all in 24" diameter, the sources added.
The project work comprises laying and constructing the pipeline, besides HDD operations across Riyanla (400 m) and Ivondro (1100m) rivers.
