Ludhiana-based, Rs 36-crore G S Radiators, part of Rs 120-crore G S Group, has bagged an order to supply industrial radiators worth $2 million to three US-based companies.

With this order, it has become the biggest radiator-manufacturing company of India to get such an order for the US industrial market.

They were in talks with these three companies--Ex Mark in Minneapolis, Husker Power Products in Phoenix, and Kirkland Ltd in Wilson Wille--since June 2005 and the orders finally matured during the Automotive Aftermarket Products Expo (AAPEX) held at Las Vegas from October 30 to November 1 this year.

The order includes around 12 models comprising 12,000 pieces of industrial radiators, which will be used in heavy duty applications like gensets, pumps, commercial lawn movers, tow trucks, and mobile cranes. Some part of this order is also for original equipment manufacturers.

Of the total order, 3,500 pieces will be supplied to Ex Mark, 4,000 to Husker Power Products and almost 4,500 to Kirkland Ltd. Regular consignments of this order will be sent in parts every month through the Central Freight Station, Dhandari (Ludhiana), and it will take at least three years for the supply to complete.

G S Radiators is also in talks with a Canada-based company for at least a $1 million order.

Speaking to Business Standard, Ranjodh Singh, managing director, GS Radiators, said: "The three US companies preferred an Indian manufacturer to Chinese, Japanese, Turkish or even US companies, which also were expecting orders. We have beaten them on price, quality and delivery. The problem with China is that of delivery and warrantee, while Japan, US and Turkey are expensive. A new image developing in the world market is that Indian companies can deliver good products at cheaper costs."

Giving details of other overseas operations, Ranjodh said, "We are exporting industrial radiators to major European companies through our own warehousing in Rotterdam (Holland). We are also supplying to the Adred Group of Australia, which also happens to be the biggest manufacturer of industrial radiators there. We also supply to Mexico, and Trinidad and Tobago. Surprisingly, in one and half years, we have supplied almost 6,400 industrial radiators to Trinidad and Tobago. Almost 50 per cent of our production is exported."
