The chief electoral officer of the state, U P S Madan has announced the schedule for filing suggestions, objections and public hearings on the final draft of the delimitation commission proposals for Maharashtra.
 
The delimitation commission's proposals have created quiet a stir in the political circles as the number of Assembly and Lok Sabha seats from urban areas have increased, reflecting the ever increasing urbanisation in the state.
 
The number of Assembly seats in urban areas have increased by 28 and the number of Lok Sabha seats in urban and semi urban areas have increased by four. Besides this, the number of seats for scheduled castes have also increased from 18 to 29.
