Icici Bank Plans To Set Up 10000 Edc Terminals

ICICI Bank is looking at setting up 10,000 electronic data capture (EDC) terminals in a step to boost its merchant acquisition business.

Private sector banks led by HDFC Bank and ICICI Bank have in recent times become very aggressive players in setting up EDC terminals with HDFC Bank leading the pack with 20,000 terminals. The total terminals across the country are estimated to be at around 60,000. These banks are expanding the market and are now setting up terminals in the tier II and tier III cities across the country.
