The mystery surrounding the appointment of executive directors at public sector banks is deepening.

The finance ministry has scrapped a shortlist of nine public sector bank general managers (GMs) who were to be elevated as executive directors as and when vacancies arose in nationalised banks and financial institutions.

It has called for fresh interviews between April 22-24. About 80 GMs will now face the interview panel for possible elevation as executive directors. Last year too the interviews were held in April.
