Markets firm; Jaiprakash drops 5%

The NSE Nifty is up 81 points at 4,241.

Reliance Infrastructure has soared 6% to Rs 912. Wipro has zoomed 5.6% to Rs 394.

ITC, Tata Steel and Reliance Communications have surged over 5% each to Rs 188, Rs 629 and Rs 470, respectively.

BHEL and Cipla have gained 5% each at Rs 1,582 and Rs 238, respectively. Hindalco has moved up 4% to Rs 148.

ACC has rallied 3.6% to Rs 562. Hindustan Unilever has advanced over 3% to Rs 235.

SBI has added 2.8% to Rs 1,385. Mahindra & Mahindra, TCS and Grasim are up around 2.5% each at Rs 542, Rs 834 and Rs 1,770, respectively.

Maruti has plunged over 9% to Rs 588. Jaiprakash Associates has tumbled over 5% to Rs 158.

Bharti Airtel has dropped 3% to Rs 775. Tata Motors has shed 2.6% at Rs 409, and DLF has slipped nearly 2% to Rs 455.

Out of 2,577 stocks traded, 1,765 have advanced, 741 have declined and 71 are unchanged.
