Tata Steel up on govt remark

Shares of Tata Steel gained 2.27 per cent to Rs 470 on a statement from the Union steel minister that domestic consumption of steel will rise 6 per cent this quarter.

The stock hit a day’s high of Rs 475 and a low Rs 461. Trading volumes were up 3 per cent over the two-week average to 340,000 shares. The stock had hit a 52-week low of Rs 146 on November 26, 2008, and a high of Rs 535 on September 12, 2008.
