Outgoing FIFA president Sepp Blatter is reportedly open to the possibility of returning to the top post in the world football body.

Blatter stepped down just four days after being re-elected for his fifth term as FIFA president.

However, BBC reports claim that a source close to Blatter has revealed that the Swiss could make an audacious bid to stay on if no suitable alternative candidate emerges.

Blatter has been urged to step down immediately rather than waiting for the upcoming FIFA Congress meeting late this year.
