l showed off some cool dance moves as he grooved with locals during celebrations of the 73rd Independence Day here.

Donning a pair of sunglasses and dressed in the traditional attire of the Ladakh region, Namgyal danced and even sat down and played the drums along with locals in Matho, his native village.

A video of him celebrating has since been widely shared on the Internet.

Namgyal shared on Twitter: "Buddhist Monks and people of my native village Matho hoisting national flag celebrating 1st Independence Day after declaring Ladakh as Union Territory."

Namgyal had shot into public notice after his powerful speech in Parliament in favour of bifurcation of Jammu and Kashmir into two Union Territories -- Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh. The speech received praise, including by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah.

In Jammu, BJP President of Jammu and Kashmir Ravinder Raina also danced while celebrating Independence Day.

The BJP leader was seen waving the national flag and dancing to the beats of a dhol with locals and party workers.
