Microsoft likely to hire Qualcomm COO Steve Mollenkopf as new CEO

Microsoft is reportedly considering Qualcomm's chief operating officer (COO) Steve Mollenkopf as its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO).

According to Cnet, Mollenkopf is said to be among several candidates under consideration to replace Steve Ballmer as chief executive as early as by the end of the year.

Mollenkopf has a strong background in technology as the COO of one of the largest chipmakers for mobile devices.
