Modi congratulates Turnbull on appointment as Aussie PM
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday spoke to Malcolm Turnbull and congratulated him on his appointment as the Prime Minister of Australia.
"Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull and I spoke a short while ago. I congratulated him and conveyed best wishes. I also thanked him for his birthday greetings. I spoke to Mr. Tony Abbott and appreciated his efforts in improving ties between India and Australia," said Prime Minister Modi.
Malcolm Turnbull became Australia's 29th prime minister after beating Tony Abbott in a dramatic leadership ballot in Canberra earlier this week.
