A group of 20 probationers of Indian Trade Service of 2010 and 2011 batches, who are currently undergoing nine months of professional training at the Indian Institute of Foreign Trade, called on President Pranab Mukherjee at the Rashtrapati Bhavan today.

President Mukherjee congratulated the probationers for having succeeded in one of the toughest examinations in the country.

Commenting on the state of the economy, President Mukherjee said that our exports sector should lead the country's economic revival.

Assuring that there is no need for despondency, he admitted that there might be certain areas of concern with regard to the present state of the country's economy.

He also said that it is imperative to portray a realistic assessment of the economic prospects of the country.

President Mukherjee encouraged the probationers, saying that they were going to work for the progress of the country and must be proactive in their actions, quick in their decisions, innovative in their efforts, and responsive in their dispensations.

He further said that their work must benefit the lowest section of the socio-economic pyramid.

Amongst other officials present were Commerce Secretary, Director of IIFT and the Director General of Foreign Trade.
