Shakeel Ahmed taunts Chautala, says only CBI can ascertain his illness

Taking a jibe at former Haryana chief minister and Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) chief Om Prakash Chautala, Congress leader Shakeel Ahmed on Friday said only the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) can ascertain his illness as doctors have no capacity to do so.

Describing Chautala's case to be unique, Ahmed said: "He is 80 plus. He is out on bail on the ground of illness. He travels usually by air ambulance, but he addresses 31 meetings in one day. I am much much younger than Mr. O P Chautala, we get exhausted by addressing five to six meetings per day. So, only the CBI can ascertain the illness of Mr. Chautala because the doctors have no capacity to ascertain the illness of Mr. Chautala."

"So, CBI is the only source to ascertain what kinds of illness where a person who is travelling by air ambulance addresses more than 30 meetings a day," he added.

Chautala today denied violating bail by campaigning for the Haryana Assembly polls.

"It is up to the court to decide but there was no condition on my bail," he told the media.

To a poser on whether he would continue campaigning for the Haryana Assembly polls, Chautala said: "It depends on the court. If the court asks me to surrender, then how will I?"

The former chief minister, who has been convicted and sentenced to ten years jail term in the Junior Basic Trained (JBT) teachers recruitment scam case, will today appear before the Delhi High Court on the CBI's plea for cancellation of his bail and immediate surrender for allegedly violating bail conditions.

The Delhi High Court had yesterday directed the INLD chief to appear before it.

The CBI had earlier moved the Delhi High Court seeking cancellation of interim bail granted to Chautala in the case, saying he violated bail conditions.

Chautala was sentenced to 10-year imprisonment by a Delhi court on January 22, 2013 for illegally recruiting 3,206 JBT teachers in the state in 2000.

The election for 90-member Haryana Assembly is scheduled to be held on October 15 while the counting of votes will take place on October 19.
