A Vancouver-based woman has opened up about her traumatic incestuous relationship with her father.

The 24-year-old Natasha Rose Chenier, who grew up never knowing her father, first met him when she was 19 and over two years she flew out to where he lived, in Jamaica, after speaking on the phone, the Mirror reported.

Writing for Jezebel, she described how they "connected immediately" and said that she was intoxicated by their likeness, which she never shared with her mother or with any siblings.

Chenier added that all of a sudden she had company and a dream parent, and so she was over the moon. Her dad began wowing her with expensive meals, and she became aware that she found herself attracted to him.

On her second trip to visit him, Chenier began sleeping in her dad's bed and was "horrified" to realize she felt a sexual attraction to him, but instead of going away she said those feelings grew.

It was during her final visit to Jamaica that Natasha learned that her father also was attracted to her since they first met and the pair began a physical relationship.

She said that genetic sexual attraction is as real and intense as anything and the sexual feelings she had for her father felt like a dark spell that had been cast over her, a description that a therapist told her had been used almost verbatim by another client who had experienced father-daughter genetic sexual attraction.

Chenier, who felt physically sick as a result of the relationship as though she was in a "whirlwind of self-hate," eventually broke off contact with her father and has not seen him since, and has been receiving therapy which has helped her deal with the traumatic experience.

She concluded that she has finally been able to understand herself that her attraction, and what it led to, was not her fault.
