The NIA has arrested Mohammed Jahidul Islam, leader of Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB), here for his involvement in Bihar's Bodh Gaya explosion, the anti-terror agency said on Tuesday.
A team of the National Investigation Agency (NIA) arrested Islam, also known as Kausar, Munna, Mizan and Boma Miyan, during a raid at his Ramanagara house here on Sunday.
"Some electronic devices and traces of explosives were seized from his house," NIA Spokersperson Alok Mittal said.
The official said Islam is a top leader of JMB in India and is also wanted in the October 2,2014 Burdwan blast case and in many other cases in Bangladesh also.
He is the master mind of the Bodh Gaya blast near Kalachakra Maidan. NIA filed an FIR in the case on February 3.
The officer said on Islam's directive Mustafizur Rehman alias Shahin, one his close associates, had arranged and assembled all the explosives for the incident.
A low intensity bomb blast took place near Kalchakra ground in Bodh Gaya on January 19 when the Tibetan spiritual leader, the Dalai Lama was present in town. A couple of crude bombs and large quantity of explosives were also recovered from the place.
Islam was produced before a special NIA court in Bengaluru which sent him to five-day transit remand. He will now be produced before a special NIA court in Bihar's Patna.
