Known as the 'grand old man of English journalism in Jammu and Kashmir' Ved Bhasin died Thursday night.
The 86-year old Bhasin who remained an active journalist for nearly six decades, was suffering from a degenerative brain disease for the last several months.
He was born in Srinagar and had schooling in Jammu. He did his post graduation before 1947 from the Punjab University (Lahore).
Bhasin was the editor of daily 'Kashmir Times' from 1964 to 2000.
Known for his uncompromising secular views and support for the under privileged sections of the society, Ved Bhasin's death has been widely condoled in the state.
